Local Story (D’Lady)

D’Lady says

This is what happened. Nobody cares now, but this is what happened: We drove ten hours west. Parked the car and slept. Tucked up close as orphans with nothing but each other, it’s a picture a poem. When we slept, wrapped up in that blanket, I dreamt of a girl so small he could wrap her up and strap her on his back. He could wrap his long arms around her and love her and stroke her hair. And one night I’m walking outside of town, out to where the melons grow and there was a trailer with a light on and a girl came to the window so slight she was transparent, I could see her cooking her dinner, and I knew. I folded the blanket and put it on the step for her and for him and I left him there. And I went west.
