We Are Marshall (Jack Lengyel)

We Are Marshall (Jack Lengyel)

Category: Movie Role: Jack Lengyel From: We Are Marshall

For those of you who may not know, this is the final resting place for six members of the 1970 Thundering Herd. The plane crash that took their lives was so severe, so, so absolute, that their bodies were unable to be identified. So they were buried here, together. Six players, six teammates, six Sons of Marshall. This is our past, gentlemen. This is where we have been. This is how we got here. This is who we are. Today. I want to talk about our opponent this afternoon. They’re bigger, faster, stronger, more experienced and on paper, they’re just better. And they know it, too. But I wanna tell you something that they don’t know. They don’t know your heart. I do. I’ve seen it. You have shown it to me. You have shown this coaching staff, your teammates. You have shown yourselves just exactly who you are in here. When you take that field today, you’ve gotta lay that heart on the line, men. From the souls of your feet, with every ounce of blood you’ve got in your body, lay it on the line until the final whistle blows. And if you do that, if you do that, we cannot lose. We may be behind on the scoreboard at the end of the game but if you play like that we cannot be defeated. Now we came here today to remember six young men and sixty-nine others who will not be on the field with you today, but they will be watching. You can bet your ass that they’ll be gritting their teeth with every snap of that football. You understand me? How you play today, from this moment on, is how you will be remembered. This is your opportunity to rise from these ashes and grab glory. We are…Marshall! We are…Marshall! We are…Marshall! The funerals end today!

Category: Movie Role: Lieutenant Colonel Hal Moore From: We Were Soldiers

Look around you. In the 7th Cavalry we got a captain from the Ukraine, another from Puerto Rico. We got Japanese, Chinese, blacks, Hispanics, Cherokee Indians, Jews and Gentiles. All Americans. Now here in the States, some men in this unit may experience discrimination because of race or creed, but for you and me now, all that is gone. We’re moving into the valley of the shadow of death, where you will watch the back of the man next to you, as he will watch yours, and you won’t care what color he is or by what name he calls God. They say we’re leaving home. We’re going to what home was always supposed to be. So let us understand the situation. We’re going into battle against a tough and determined enemy. I can’t promise you that I will bring you all home alive, but this I swear, before you and before almighty God: that when we go into battle, I will be the first to set foot on the field, and I will be the last to step off. And I will leave no one behind. Dead or alive, we will all come home together. So help me God.

Wedding Crashers (Jeremy Grey)

Category: Movie Role: Jeremy Grey From: Wedding Crashers

Janice, I apologize to you if I don’t seem real eager to jump into a forced awkward intimate situation that people like to call dating. I don’t like the feeling. You’re sitting there, you’re wondering do I have food on my face, am I eating, am I talking too much, are they talking enough, am I interested but I’m not really interested, or should I play like I’m interested, but I’m not that interested, but I think she might be interested but do I want to be interested, but now she’s not interested? So all of the sudden I’m getting, I’m starting to get interested and when am I supposed to kiss her? Do I have to wait for the door cause then it’s awkward, it’s like, well goodnight. You do like that ass-out hug where you like, you hug each other like this and your ass sticks out cause you’re trying not to get too close. Do you just go right in and kiss them on the lips or don’t kiss them at all? It’s very difficult trying to read the situation. And all the while you’re just really wondering, are we gonna get hopped up enough to make some bad decisions? Perhaps play a little game called “just the tip”. Just for a second, just to see how it feels. Or, ouch, ouch you’re on my hair.

Gene: I wanna thank all of you for a terrific summer. Cooking for all you nice people has really helped me get over the fact that I fought in the Vietnam War. Have a great winter, I”m gonna go hump the fridge. Yes folks, it”s true. I said I”m gonna go hump the fridge. What you may not know is that I also own a bottle of dick cream, I fondle my sweaters, and I often like to smear mud on my ass. You”re probably as yourselves, “Isn”t he a wierdo, outcast, loose cannon?” Maybe. I don”t think so.I wanna introduce you guys to someone. This is my friend. (Holding a can of vegetables.) I don”t know who he is, but I do know this: At a time when I was trying to hide myself from myself, he was there to show me a new way. “Cause I couldn”t hide from him. And I can be proud of who I am. I put it to you, Camp Firewood, as we spend the last dinner together: Be proud of who you are. Look at me, Ma, I made it! I”m okay! Now if you don”t mind, I have some unfinished business to attend to.RelatedShareTweetPin

When Harry Met Sally (Harry Burns)

When Harry Met Sally (Harry Burns)

Category: Movie Role: Harry Burns From: When Harry Met Sally

Well, how about this way? I love that you get cold when it’s seventy one degrees out, I love that it takes you an hour and a half to order a sandwich, I love that you get a little crinkle above your nose when you’re looking at me like I’m nuts, I love that after I spend a day with you I can still smell your perfume on my clothes and I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. And it’s not because I’m lonely, and it’s not because it’s New Year’s Eve. I came here tonight because when you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of the life to start as soon as possible.

While You Were Sleeping (Lucy Eleanor Moderatz)

While You Were Sleeping (Lucy Eleanor Moderatz)

Category: Movie Role: Lucy Eleanor Moderatz From: While You Were Sleeping

I bet you were wondering what I’m doing here in the middle of the night. Well, I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Lucy. Lucy Elenore Moderatz. I think you should know that your family thinks we’re engaged. I’ve never been engaged before. This is very sudden for me. What I really came here to tell was that I didn’t mean for this to happen. I don’t know what to do. If you were awake, I wouldn’t be in this mess. Oh God, not that I’m blaming you. I’m sorry. It’s just that when I was a kid, I always imagined what I would be like or what I would have when I got older. And you know, it was normal stuff. I’d have a house and a family and things like that. It’s not that I’m complaining or anything, because I do have a cat. I have an apartment. I have a sole possession of a remote control. That’s very important. It’s just that I’ve never met anybody that I could laugh with. Do you believe in love at first site? I bet you don’t. You’re probably too sensible for that. Or have you ever seen somebody and you know, that if that person really knew you, they’d dump the perfect model that they were with and realize that you were the one that they wanted to grow old with? Have you ever fallen in love with somebody that you haven’t even talked to? Have you ever been so alone that you spend the night confusing a man in a coma?

Walk the Line (Sam Phillips)

Walk the Line (Sam Phillips)

Category: Movie Role: Sam Phillips From: Walk the Line

Bring… bring it home? All right, let’s bring it home. If you was hit by a truck and you was lying out there in that gutter dying, and you had time to sing one song. Huh? One song that people would remember before you’re dirt. One song that would let God know how you felt about your time here on Earth. One song that would sum you up. You tellin’ me that’s the song you’d sing? That same Jimmy Davis tune we hear on the radio all day, about your peace within, and how it’s real, and how you’re gonna shout it? Or… would you sing somethin’ different. Somethin’ real. Somethin’ you felt. Cause I’m telling you right now, that’s the kind of song people want to hear. That’s the kind of song that truly saves people. It ain’t got nothin to do with believin’ in God, Mr. Cash. It has to do with believin’ in yourself.
